What about kOOL?

Back in the early 2000's I started to write some lines of code to help our secretary to manage all the events and reservations in our church. These scripts grew more and more and so one day I decided to put them all together in one tool - kOOL. The first two years I developed one module after the other and only like two churches actually worked with it. But the code got better and got bigger until more than 10k addresses were managed with kOOL in different churches and organizations.

Why OpenSource?

My main motivation to release kOOL as OpenSource after 4 years of development is pretty simple - at least for me:

God did it with the universe, so why shouldn't I do it with kOOL?

Read John 1.1-3:

"In the beginning (before all time) was the Word [...]. All things were made and came into existence through Him (the Word)."

Now if you remember how God has made the whole earth, as we can read in Genesis 1, then you realize, that He's actually done it with his words. So you could call God's word the SourceCode of the entire universe ("All things").

With the Bible (being the word of God) and Jesus (the Word) coming to this earth as a human being (John 1.14) and the Holy Spirit as our teacher being poured out into our hearts, I call the earth OpenSource. God has given us everything there is to know about the earth we are living in. And the best thing is we can actually change the source with God's words in our mouth:

Mark 11.23f:

"Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, Be lifted up and thrown into the sea! and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him."

What about God?

As you may have realized, I've developed kOOL for the administration of a Christian church. So this already suggests that I believe in Jesus as the provider of my life. The first thing in my life is Jesus, then come my wife and kids and soon after that there is kOOL. :)
